London: Trimedia FC have won their inaugural match of the spring premiership by beating the hosts and organisers, Gorkana G-Force, 4-2. The game took place yesterday evening on the outskirts of London, in a glamorous setting underneath the A40.

The team was led from the front by Captain Julian ‘Magic Feet‘ Morrison, with George ‘Shooter’ Morrison providing support up front. Defence was extremely solid thanks to efficient work by Philipp ‘The Guns’ Hoffman and superb diving saves from Nick ‘Hollywood’ Day. Grant ‘The Mongoose’ Richmond-Coggan made up the five in midfield.

With no substitutes and 30 minutes of high octane football in front of them the team decided to knuckle down with a proper warm up and tactics discussion. Two pints later, Hollywood had explained the finer virtues of the ‘diamond spin and replace’ (dsp) formation with the bar nuts in the Sports Café, and the team were ready to go.

The game started with a flurry of high energy expenditure thanks to the Lucozade (who are in negotiations for sponsorship) drank on the tube journey. The first few minutes passed with the teams sizing each other up and the dsp formation proving its worth. Heart rates heightened when The Guns had a goal controversially ruled out (come on ref!).  Not letting tempers flare the team stayed focused, and a minute later Shooter fed it straight to Magic Feet who stood primed in midfield. With a spin around the defender he drilled one home from range, first blood Trimedia FC.

Unfortunately Trimedia FC were so shocked by the revelation that they could actually score Gorkana took them off guard and made an instant reply, 1-1.  Magic Feet, not happy about the slacking showed them how to do it, and slotted another beauty to put Trimedia FC 2-1 up. Shooter, not to be outdone and to live up to his name intercepted a throw from their dodgy keeper and fired it back past him 3-1. Gorkana, sensing some lager fatigue in the Trimedia team then pulled it back to 3-2 with the last kick of the first half.

The second half was a tense affair with the game resting on a knife edge. Hollywood lived up to his name diving left and right like Neo dodging bullets in the matrix to record a second half clean sheet. The icing on top, of the now weary Trimedia FC cake, came when Magic Feet put them out of reach with a final goal with 3-4 mins to go. The Mongoose was generally running around confusing the opposition, offering them his shoulder instead of his feet to the ball, valuable input none the less.

Magic Feet, who won Man of the Match said, “I believe the winning was all in our preparation at the bar, they kept sending fresh subs on but we dug deep and came out with the win. Next time we will knock back three pre-match pints and then we’ll be unstoppable.”

The team’s sponsor said nothing, (note: apparently there is a recession somewhere, so no sponsorship is available). The team is looking into the availability of Sir Allen Stanford, watch this space.
